A cofounder of Cool Earth, Kirsten brings technical, project management, and business experience to the team. Before Cool Earth, she cofounded LabSmith, a company that develops innovative, time-saving equipment for research experiments. At LabSmith, she held key roles in design engineering, manufacturing engineering, and product sales. She also is coinventor of LabSmith's patented Synchronized Video Microscope. Her background includes working as a senior member of the technical staff in the Emerging Technology Department of Sandia National Laboratories. At Sandia, she engineered an explosive destruction system used for nonproliferation and managed a project to develop batch supercritical water oxidation technology for disposing of chemical munitions. Kirsten started her career at Aerospace Corporation, designing solid rocket motors and analyzing the preflight readiness of rockets for the U.S. Air Force. She earned BS and MS degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Penn State University.
She is also an enthusiastic supporter of her local school's Go Green program.
