James Page, Director of Product Development

James is a product designer and entrepreneur who brings more than 15 years of creative energy and engineering, design, and business experience to Cool Earth Solar's product development efforts.

He has developed products that are available worldwide, including medical devices, sporting goods, and consumer electronics. Before joining Cool Earth, James cofounded Page Product Design, a company focused on all stages of product development, from invention to market. He also led a group that developed advanced robotic surgical instruments at Intuitive Surgical and founded a company to develop all-terrain skates. Past projects range from designing NASA-sponsored robotic hands at the Artificial Intelligence Lab of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) to developing innovative new office products for Staples. His work has been praised in Time magazine, US News & World Report, The Wall Street Journal, Sports Illustrated, Wired, Outdoor Life Network, and Outside magazine. He is also among the winners of the prestigious MIT $100K Entrepreneurship Competition.

His educational background includes an SB in mechanical engineering from MIT and an MS in mechanical engineering from Stanford, where he taught in the Product Realization Lab and also took business school courses.

When not "focused on the Sun" at Cool Earth, James is an avid cyclist who has designed several human-powered and human-electric vehicles. For fun, he prototypes other inventions that save energy or re-use discarded materials.
