Cool Earth Solar (www.coolearthsolar.com), developer and owner of high concentrator photovoltaic (CPV) power plants today announced the opening of a new facility in Livermore, California. The new headquarters, two miles from Cool Earth Solar's original location, greatly expands Cool Earth Solar's ability to quickly bring utility scale solar technology to market. The 12,800 square foot building combines office, laboratory, and manufacturing space under a single roof.
Rob Lamkin, Chief Executive Officer of Cool Earth Solar, commented on the opening of the new facility, "We planned this facility to enable our design, business, and production talent to work together closely and efficiently. There is real value in the tightly integrated coordination of our staff". Dr. Eric Cummings, the President and Chief Technology Officer of Cool Earth Solar added "Our unique approach of using plastic films as the basis of our concentrating reflectors allows us to collocate our manufacturing with the rest of our business within a relatively small space compared to other technologies".
Cool Earth Solar management were happy to remain in the city of Livermore. Dr. Cummings noted the advantage that “Being close to the national laboratories, Sandia and Lawrence Livermore, gives us access to a reservoir of scientific and engineering resources". Mr. Lamkin added, "Livermore continues to be supportive of our efforts as a renewable energy small business".
